Job Description
Summary: Henderson Engineers is a company focused on innovation and client experience in building design and construction. They are seeking an Electrical Designer I who will be responsible for the design, coordination, documentation, and delivery of electrical building systems, contributing to projects for various sectors such as healthcare and retail.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares design documents under the supervision of experienced engineering and design staff. Prepares design documents, system layouts, drawings, schematics, and related documentation under the supervision of experienced engineering and design staff
- Assists with engineering calculations, basic design tasks, and research on products, systems, and applicable codes
- Supports the review of shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications and participates in field verification as directed
- Collaborates with experienced staff to understand client requirements and project scope, acting as a liaison to relay client and architect questions and responses to the design team
- Supports project coordination activities under the guidance of senior staff, including emails, scope tracking, and schedule coordination
- May participate in business development or pursuit activities under direct supervision and occasionally attend client, company, or industry events
- Fosters a client-centric mindset and approach in all work, assisting with client communication as appropriate
- Visits job sites for observation, learning, and professional development opportunities
- Continuously seeks to expand knowledge and fill gaps in industry or discipline expertise
- Develops proficiency in industry-standard software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office products
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field of engineering (i.e.: mechanical, electrical, fire protection or architectural) and 1 year of relevant experience or 4 years of experience with high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Basic proficiency in engineering design: basic knowledge of the A&E industry, codes, design guides and standards
- High technical aptitude: ability to learn, understand and utilize various systems and processes
- Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and engineering design software applicable to your discipline or focus
- Clear communication and willingness to ask questions
- Accountability, reliability, and ethical behavior
- Commitment to accuracy and quality
- Collaboration and receptiveness to feedback
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred
- MEP/Construction Industry experience preferred
- Proficiency with Revit and Bluebeam Revu
