Finance Risk Analytics Intern at Healthfirst in New York, NY

They are seeking a Finance Risk Analytics Intern to support the Provider Risk Analytics Team by performing data analysis and contributing to projects that improve financial performance for provider organizations. Responsibilities: - Develop an understanding of the Healthfirst overall business and risk model, with a focus on how to support provider organizations to improve financial performance and how value-based care can drive improved outcomes - Attend internal and external provider meetings to develop an understanding of how the Provider Risk Analytics work fits into the larger Healthfirst enterprise strategy - Perform analysis and data projects to begin to develop an understanding of how to monitor cost and revenue trends, use analytics and various types of healthcare data to identify improvement opportunities, and model and communicate impact to providers Required Qualifications: - Degree or currently enrolled in Finance, Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Math, Statistics, Economics or related programs - Undergraduate students must be junior or senior at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program. Graduate students must be enrolled at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program - Will not require sponsorship for employment - Eligible to work in the U.S - Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA from an accredited school Preferred Qualifications: - Degree or currently enrolled in Finance, Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Math, Statistics, Economics or related programs - Knowledge of SQL based applications and Tableau - Work experience with Microsoft Excel - create pivot tables, formatting, sorting, create spreadsheets with complex formulas such as v-look ups - Self-motivated, creative problem solver who can work independently and collaborate through strong communication and interpersonal skills - Experience managing projects - Knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare programs - Knowledge of healthcare data (claims, diagnosis, and procedure codes, etc.) Required Skills: SQL, Tableau, Microsoft Excel Important Skills: Healthcare data knowledge, Project management Nice-to-Have Skills: Finance, Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Statistics, Economics, Communication skills, Interpersonal skills, Creative problem solving Benefits: Medical, Dental and vision coverage, Incentive and recognition programs, Life insurance, 401k contributions
