Job Description
Summary: HCLTech is seeking an entry-level Software Asset Manager to support its Software Asset Management operations. The role assists with software inventory, entitlement tracking, license compliance, contract reviews, cloud and SaaS license management, reporting, audit readiness, and collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Support day-to-day Software Asset Management (SAM) operations under the guidance of senior SAM consultants
- Assist in maintaining accurate software inventory, entitlement records, and asset repositories
- Support software license compliance reviews and basic license reconciliation activities
- Assist in identifying software usage gaps and optimization opportunities through established SAM methodologies
- Collect, validate, and maintain software entitlement, usage, contract, and renewal data
- Learn and apply Software Asset Management best practices and industry standards, including ISO 19770 awareness
- Support software contract reviews to understand licensing terms, conditions, and compliance requirements
- Assist with software asset management activities for major publishers such as Microsoft and Adobe
- Support cloud and SaaS license management activities and reporting
- Participate in SAM projects involving migrations, mergers, acquisitions, and operational changes under supervision
- Create and maintain documentation, reports, metrics, and dashboards related to software asset management
- Collaborate with IT, Procurement, Finance, and other business stakeholders to gather required data and support asset management initiatives
- Participate in training programs, certification paths, and knowledge-sharing activities to build SAM expertise
- Support audit readiness activities and assist with internal compliance assessments
Required Qualifications:
- • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field
- • Recent graduate or up to 2 years of relevant experience in IT, Asset Management, Software Licensing, or Technology Operations
- • Basic understanding of Software Asset Management (SAM) and IT Asset Management (ITAM) principles
- • Awareness of software licensing concepts and compliance requirements
- • Basic knowledge of Microsoft and Adobe licensing models
- • Familiarity with software lifecycle management, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and retirement
- • Exposure to Software Asset Management tools such as Snow or Flexera through coursework, labs, internships, or training
- • Basic understanding of cloud and SaaS licensing concepts
- • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office applications
- • Strong verbal and written communication skills
- • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- • Willingness to learn enterprise licensing models and industry best practices
Preferred Qualifications:
- • Internship experience in IT Asset Management, Software Asset Management, IT Operations, Procurement, or related areas
- • Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, Adobe, Oracle, IBM, or other enterprise software licensing concepts
- • Exposure to data analysis and reporting tools
- • Familiarity with ITIL concepts and IT service management practices
- • Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS
- • Interest in obtaining SAM or ITAM-related certifications
- • Experience working with enterprise tools, databases, or reporting platforms
