Summary: Hawaiʻi Gas is offering an internship opportunity in their Finance and Accounting department. The intern will assist with various financial activities including variance analysis, data reconciliation, and preparation of financial statements while gaining practical experience in the field. Responsibilities: - Provides support in variance analysis by gathering data and assisting with identifying trends and discrepancies - Assists with data reconciliation to help ensure accuracy and consistency of financial information - Supports month-end close activities by preparing basic schedules, reports, and documentation - Assists in the forecasting process by compiling data and updating supporting files - Provides support in the preparation of financial statements by organizing data and assisting with required inputs - Assists with the preparation of journal entries and supporting documentation for review - Supports the development of ad hoc reports and analyses as requested by the team - Provides general administrative and analytical support to Accounting and Finance team members - Complies with all safety rules and cooperates in the fullest in the promotion of safety and safe work habits, to include the reporting of any unsafe conditions or acts - Maintains all EH&S training on a current basis - Complies with all applicable corporate and Hawaii Gas policies and procedures - Maintains assigned work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner; performs housekeeping duties as required and/or instructed - Works in a safe and responsible manner - Performs all other related duties as instructed by supervisor/manager Required Qualifications: - Currently pursuing or has completed a bachelor's degree in finance or accounting - Legal authorization to work in the US - Must have reliable transportation to and from work Required Skills: Finance, Accounting Important Skills: Variance analysis, Data reconciliation, Financial statements Nice-to-Have Skills: Forecasting, Journal entries, Ad hoc reporting, Analytical support
