Job Description
Summary: Hartwick College is an independent, residential liberal arts college located in Oneonta, New York. They are seeking a Football Staff Intern who will be responsible for on-field coaching during the football seasons and assist with recruiting and operations of the football program, while also supporting residence life duties.
Responsibilities:
- On-field coaching for the fall traditional season and spring non-traditional season
- Assist with recruiting and day-to-day operations of the football program
- Assist with a particular position group as assigned by the head coach
- Additional duties as assigned by the head coaches and/or Executive Director of Athletics
- Serve in support role to Residence Life regarding oversight and safety of students in one of the Hartwick College residence halls
- Serve as an on-call first responder several times throughout the school year
- Comply with all Federal, State, local, NCAA, Empire 8 Conference, College Department, associational laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures
- Must complete and pass the NCAA Rules Test
- As a representative of the College, expected to comport oneself in a professional manner at all times, both on and off campus. No inappropriate relationships with students
- Participate in major campus events, including Welcome Weekend, True Blue Weekend, and Commencement Weekend
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum requirement for this position is a Bachelor's Degree (preferred) from an accredited college or university
- Must have a valid drivers license, clean driving record and be insurable by the College
- CPR/First Aid/AED Certification
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of the sport
- Being up to date with safety, rules and regulations and proper certifications
- Ability to provide academic guidance and mentoring to student-athletes
- Ability to multi-task and handle a job with a daily change of pace
- Ability to use independent action, estimating skill, memory, and problem-solving skills
- Since the position is based in athletics, there are physical demands related to the specific sport and may include exposure to different climate conditions while coaching or recruiting
- May frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
Preferred Qualifications:
- Playing and/or previous coaching experience preferred
