Job Description
Summary: Hanna Andersson is a premier kids and baby clothing brand based in Portland, Oregon, focused on quality and sustainability. The Merchandising Intern will gain hands-on experience in sample management, product review meetings, and cross-functional partnerships while contributing to business reporting and collaboration opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in sample management activities, including photographing, bagging, stickering, tagging, and submitting Top of Production samples to the appropriate portals
- Attend fittings and gain exposure to product review and decision-making processes
- Take notes during Line Adopt sessions and maintain accurate updates in Airtable
- Support weekly business review preparation, including updating decks and, when appropriate, reporting out
- Gain exposure to merchandising briefs, product collaboration concepts, and the go-to-market process
- Learn and use PLM systems, including Kubix and Airtable, for attribute updates, MSRP updates, and workflow updates
- Contribute to the development of a property and partnership library that documents past partnerships and identifies future collaboration opportunities
- Research brands, properties, and market opportunities to help evaluate potential collaborations based on brand fit, audience alignment, cultural relevance, seasonal relevance, trends, and business rationale
- Help organize findings into a cross-functional reference tool and final presentation deck
- Participate in weekly team touch bases and cross-functional meetings to build understanding of how merchandising partners across the business
- Assist with ad hoc merchandising projects during go-to-market, including deck updates, sample pulls, one-pagers, and other project needs as they arise
- Participate in informational interviews and learning sessions to build broader understanding of the business and how cross-functional teams work together
- Present a final summary of project work, insights, and recommendations at the conclusion of the internship
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Merchandising, Marketing, Business, Fashion, Product Development, Communications, or a related field
- 0-1 years (internship, coursework, or volunteer work in related fields is a plus)
- Interest in merchandising, brand partnerships, product strategy, and consumer trends
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort working with presentations, spreadsheets, and organizational tools
- Ability to conduct research, synthesize information, and identify patterns or insights
- Ability to learn quickly and apply feedback in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be based in the Greater Portland area (hybrid in-office requirement)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Airtable or PLM systems is a plus
- Interest in trend research, licensing, wholesale, or collaboration strategy is a plus
- Openness to learning new tools and technologies, including AI, with an interest in how they can thoughtfully support efficiency, insight, and innovation
