Job Description
Summary: Hanger, Inc. is the world's premier provider of orthotic and prosthetic services and products. The Summer Finance & Accounting Intern will complete an 8-week rotational program, gaining exposure to financial reporting, acquisition accounting, and revenue accounting processes while contributing to meaningful projects and daily operations.
Responsibilities:
- Support financial due diligence activities and financial integration tasks related to acquisitions
- Prepare and update financial statements and footnotes in our quarterly reporting
- Conduct financial analysis and assist in developing or enhancing analytical tools and reporting templates
- Contribute to an assigned project that supports a current Financial Reporting or Acquisition Accounting initiative
- Support monthly revenue close processes including preparation of journal entries related to revenue recognition
- Perform reconciliations between source systems and the general ledger to ensure accuracy of recorded revenue
- Assist with audit & Sox preparation activities specific to revenue accounting
- Contribute to an assigned project that supports a current Revenue Accounting process improvement or analytical initiative
- Prepare reports and schedules to communicate findings in a useful and understandable manner
- Participate actively in department-wide initiatives and cross-functional projects
- Collaborate with team members across Treasury, Mergers & Acquisitions, Human Resources, Real Estate, and Operations as needed
- Attend team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities throughout the internship
- Complete other accounting duties and special projects as assigned
- Present key project findings or deliverables to the Corporate Accounting Team at the conclusion of the internship
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field rising junior, senior, or graduate student preferred
- Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with pivot tables, V-lookups, and data analysis is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to accounting or ERP software through coursework or prior internship experience preferred
- Prior internship, co-op, or work experience in an accounting, finance, or business role is a plus
