Job Description
Summary: H&R Block is a leader in tax preparation and financial services, seeking a seasonal Associate Software Engineer. In this role, you will collaborate with senior engineers to design, develop, and maintain software components that support business applications.
Responsibilities:
- Use tools, languages, coding standards, and best practices to develop new product features and maintain year over year product functionality and enhancements
- Create and execute unit tests and addresses bugs
- Work closely with the Quality Assurance, User Experience, and other related teams to ensure consistent understanding of requirements and approach
- Design, develop, and maintain software components
- Create and maintain documentation of design approaches
- Create and maintain documentation on internal architecture of the system
- Participate in technical design and code reviews for all new enhancements and maintenance work delivered
- Use business and functional requirements to produce technical specifications and product requirements
- Create, maintain, and execute Unit and Component Testing
- Maintain and improve current knowledge on the latest technologies relevant to the role regarding algorithms, language, design methodology, third-party development tools, application platforms, hardware compatibility, and operating systems
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience
- Ability to work in a team environment with limited supervision
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to develop creative solutions in assigned projects
- Demonstrated effective time management, organizational, prioritization, and planning skills
- Initiative and curiosity to continuously learn and improve
- Knowledge of all phases of the software development life cycle
- Knowledge of software development concepts and practices
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Technical aptitude and the ability to adapt to new technologies
- Experience with Azure
