Job Description
Summary: GumGum is a contextual-first technology leader transforming digital advertising with AI-powered solutions. They are seeking a Software Engineer I to build and maintain web applications, collaborating with other teams to optimize applications and ensure functionality.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain new features and improvements for a variety of React web applications
- Develop backend functionality with Java/Spring, including extending and maintaining APIs
- Owns scoped individual tasks and tasks with project-level impact with minimal guidance
- Support more senior engineers with projects with implementation of tasks ranging from inception to production release (and beyond)
- Collaborate with other teams such as DevOps, Designers, and Product to optimize our applications and brainstorm creative solutions together
- Implement tests and ensure proper functionality and graceful degradation on multiple browsers
- Seeks to improve and learn best practices from code reviews and peer feedback
- Help troubleshoot user-reported issues from the team’s applications with support
- Seeks to understand the advertising industry, as required to be able to make decisions about our technical approach and provide our users with more efficient applications
- Create new web applications from the ground up if needed
- May share knowledge by contributing to our technical blog and giving presentations/talks with guidance
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is a plus
- 1-2+ years Software Engineer experience, including JavaScript
- Candidate has shipped code to production
- 1+ years experience with React
- 1+ years experience with Java
- Core understanding of JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- Use of Git and command-line tools
- Comfortable using browser developer tools and build tools such as Webpack or build
- Understanding of responsive design concepts and cross-browser compatibility
- Understanding of deployment pipeline and processes for releases
- Prioritization of tasks in alignment with company goals
- Knowledge of SQL
- Familiarity with RESTful API concepts
