Job Description
Summary: GS Power Partners is a leading distributed generation Independent Power Producer focused on advancing the clean power future in America. They are seeking a collaborative and driven Finance Summer Intern to support various finance functions including accounting, treasury, and financial operations while gaining exposure to the renewable energy sector.
Responsibilities:
- Support accounting operations by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and managing invoices
- Track project expenditures and analyze cost efficiencies to support strategic decision-making
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze financial data
- Assist in preparing reports and presentations for internal stakeholders
- Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, including accruals and variance explanations
- Support daily treasury operations, including cash positioning, liquidity monitoring, and bank account reconciliation
- Contribute to financial modeling and scenario analysis for project-level cash flows
- Assist with debt service tracking and covenant compliance monitoring for project finance facilities
- Support documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process maps as workflows evolve
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including accounting, project finance, and IT
- Support the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
- Build and maintain financial models to evaluate business performance and trends
- Conduct ad hoc analyses to help business partners make data-driven decisions
- Help automate and streamline recurring reporting processes in Excel or financial systems
- Assist in preparing monthly financial reports, variance analyses, and management presentations
- Assist in identifying manual or repetitive financial workflows that are candidates for AI-assisted automation
- Help build and test prompt frameworks or lightweight AI tools (using tools such as Claude or Copilot) to streamline reporting, variance analysis, and document review
- Research AI applications in treasury and finance management — benchmarking peer adoption and surfacing best practices
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated interest in sustainability and clean energy / renewable energy
- Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings to internal stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work responsibly with sensitive financial data
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Applicants should be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program. Juniors and Seniors preferred
- Preferred Majors: Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Genuine curiosity about how AI tools can be applied in a finance context — no engineering background required
- Sage Intacct knowledge and/or experience a plus, not required
