Job Description
Summary: Group 1001 is a consumer-centric, technology-driven family of insurance companies focused on delivering outstanding value and operational performance. This internship opportunity on the Finance Team involves supporting financial analysis and reporting functions, providing hands-on experience in various aspects of finance within the insurance sector.
Responsibilities:
- Support our functional cost model to provide insight into resource utilization and key financial ratios
- Analyze cost data to identify areas for optimization and efficiency
- Support the testing and implementation of new accounts payable platform
- Prepare key economic indicators and industry trends that support financial forecasting, scenario modeling and performance benchmarking
- Collaborate with the team to contribute to strategic decision-making based on industry analysis
- Provide analysis and participate in the preparation of Rating Agency Reviews, Quarterly Close Process and Business Reviews
- Assist in the development of insightful financial reports to enhance the departments’ business decision support function
- Gain practical knowledge of various accounting disciplines (GAAP, NAIC Statutory, Bermuda Monetary Authority) and regulatory requirements
- Assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices
- Provide support for regulatory audit requests
- Support the development of business requirements, workflows and controls for accounts payable and ledger conversion project
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance and optimize accounting systems and tools
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of finance and accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Product Suite and other relevant accounting software
- Organized and ambitious, strong attention to detail
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to a dynamic team environment
- Must be able to commit to 2 days per week in the office with flexibility to accommodate academic demands
