Job Description
Summary: Group 1001 is a consumer-centric, technology-driven family of insurance companies on a mission to deliver outstanding value and operational performance. They are seeking a highly motivated intern to join their Security Operations team, where the intern will assist with alert triage, collaborate on investigations, and contribute to enhancing automation in cybersecurity operations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with alert triage and analysis, reviewing security alerts and helping determine which events need deeper investigation
- Collaborate with Incident Response, Engineering, and Threat Hunting teams on real investigations and response efforts
- Help develop and enhance automation and AI-driven workflows that make our cybersecurity operations faster and smarter
- Contribute to the design, testing, and improvement of security tools and processes used by the team
- Participate in threat hunting activities, looking proactively for indicators of compromise and suspicious behavior
- Complete a capstone project that delivers a meaningful improvement to our security operations (for example, building a new detection, improving an automation, or enhancing a monitoring dashboard)
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate students completing their sophomore or junior year pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, IT, or a related field
- Have a genuine interest in cybersecurity operations, incident response, or threat detection
- Are comfortable working in Linux/Windows environments and have basic familiarity with networking or security concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, logs, common attack types)
- Enjoy problem-solving, investigation, and learning new tools
- Communicate clearly and work well in a collaborative team environment
- Availability to work full-time hours over the summer
- Are self-motivated, curious, and eager to take ownership of a real project
