Job Summary
We are seeking a Technical Product Manager to lead requirements gathering and coordinate the development of finance logic systems within the commercial insurance industry. The ideal candidate will work closely with finance teams and engineering staff to define analytical requirements, particularly related to claims reserving, IBNR calculations, and earnings analysis. This role involves managing the product roadmap, prioritizing features, and shepherding work between cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of solutions. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills to clearly articulate complex technical and financial concepts to engineers and stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Gather and define detailed requirements for finance-related systems, including IBNR and earnings calculations.
- Act as a bridge between finance teams and engineering, translating business needs into technical specifications.
- Manage the product roadmap, prioritize features, and coordinate development efforts.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure clear understanding of analytical requirements.
- Shepherd work through the development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
- Provide ongoing support for existing systems and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and technical concepts effectively to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in product management or product ownership within financial or insurance technology sectors.
- Strong understanding of financial logic such as IBNR, earnings calculations, and claims reserving.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex requirements clearly to technical teams.
- Experience managing roadmaps and coordinating cross-functional projects.
- Ability to translate business needs into detailed technical specifications.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle processes in an agile environment.
- Required: product management or business analysis experience, ideally with data or analytics.
- testing, and validating data structures, including extensive SQL experience.
- Required: solid understanding of insurance finance concepts and calculations, such as earned premium, reserves, incurred losses, and loss ratios.
- Preferred: experience with agile delivery and backlog management.
- Preferred: actuarial or insurance analytics experience.
Pay: $80.00 - $95.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
