Job Description
Summary: Graco is a company that manufactures and markets premium equipment for fluid and powder materials. They are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Intern to support the Strategic Business Unit and the Manufacturing Cell, applying coursework to real-world applications and contributing to projects that drive progress.
Responsibilities:
- Provide general production support for machining and/or assembly areas by participating in hands-on troubleshooting issues and providing technical assistance
- Assist in evaluating the need for machine and/or assembly area upgrades
- Participate in capital equipment justification as needed
- Review and analyze standards and operational layouts to suggest improvements
- Assist in the selection and implementation of tooling and fixtures for machining and/or assembly jobs
- Participate in cost of quality improvements, root cause analysis and corrective action
- React to changing priorities in a timely manner
- Report man-hour estimates
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or comparable Engineering program
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as an effective team member
- Mechanical aptitude and desire for hands on work
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD
- Experience with 3D printers
- CAD software experience such as Solid Works, Creo, etc
- Experience with various programming languages such as C, C+, and Python
- Knowledge of electrical circuit design, specifically using Altium designer
- Robotic, PLC, or Labview programming experience
- Proficient Microsoft Office Skills (excel, word, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of quality tools: i.e. Problem solving, Root-Cause Analysis, Corrective Action, Mistake Proofing and Process Control
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of engineering drawing interpretation
- Experience with process mapping or workflow documentation tools
- Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001 or similar)
- Exposure to structured problem-solving methodologies (DMAIC, PDAC, etc.)
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or quality-focused role
