Mechanical Engineer – Manufacturing & Production Support

About the Role

Global Water Solutions (GWS) is establishing a new manufacturing facility in Hosur for the production of next-generation Q Systems, RO, UF, and other water treatment products. We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to support greenfield factory setup, production line commissioning, manufacturing engineering, and continuous improvement. This is a shop-floor-focused role, not a purely mechanical design office position.

Key Responsibilities

• Support factory layout, production line setup, equipment selection, installation, commissioning, validation, and production ramp-up.
• Design and develop jigs, fixtures, gauges, tooling, workstations, and production equipment.
• Improve assembly processes, line balancing, ergonomics, material flow, cycle time, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Provide mechanical support for sheet metal, fabricated structures, tubing, fittings, pumps, valves, compressors, heaters, chillers, and electromechanical assemblies.
• Support new product introduction (NPI), DFM/DFA reviews, product localization, pilot builds, and engineering changes.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, assembly, leakage, vibration, thermal, and reliability issues, and lead root cause analysis with cross-functional teams.
• Establish preventive maintenance plans for production equipment and maintain maintenance records and critical spares.
• Prepare engineering documentation, including CAD models, drawings, BOMs, SOPs, work instructions, and maintenance procedures.
• Coordinate with local vendors, fabricators, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing, 5S, process improvements, and train production operators on safe manufacturing practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Production, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering (Diploma with strong relevant experience may be considered).
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, production engineering, assembly line setup, industrialization, equipment commissioning, or plant maintenance.
• Experience designing jigs & fixtures and working with sheet metal, machined parts, plastics, fasteners, tubing, fittings, pumps, valves, and electromechanical assemblies.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD, with knowledge of GD&T, DFM/DFA, engineering drawings, and engineering change control.
• Strong shop-floor troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, PFMEA, preventive maintenance, and production documentation.
• Good communication skills in English; Tamil is strongly preferred.

Preferred Industry Background

Candidates from water purifiers, water dispensers, RO/UF systems, HVAC & refrigeration, pumps, industrial equipment, consumer appliances, consumer durables, or other electromechanical assembly manufacturing industries are highly preferred. Experience with plumbing assemblies, leak/pressure testing, chillers, compressors, heaters, valves, and water systems is an added advantage.
