Job Description
Summary: Gensler is a leading architecture, design and planning firm with locations worldwide, and they are seeking a temporary part-time Resource Library Intern for their Houston office. The intern will assist the Regional Resource Director in maintaining the Design Library and enhancing project results through various responsibilities including vendor relations, library maintenance, and office support.
Responsibilities:
- Secondary point of contact with all vendors who reach out and visit Gensler, which includes scheduling vendor presentations, weekly breakfast fairs, appointments, events and communicating needs of design teams
- Update and manage vendor directory
- Maintain, catalog and organize a Resource Center full of current samples
- Assist designers in locating materials and information
- Research products that support our sustainability goals
- Sort and file new materials
- Ensure all borrowed materials are returned to the library and filed appropriately
- Manage sample returns, including sorting, packing and shipping materials or arranging for vendors to pick up materials
- Coordinate with interior design schools to pick up extra samples
- Assist in coordinating library product displays by curating rotating educational content
- Help manage project palette reservations in the Design Center
Required Qualifications:
- Must be organized, proactive, and self-motivated
- Excellent communication skills and a hospitable disposition
- Must be able to prioritize and focus in a very fast-paced environment
- Enthusiastic and capable team player interested in contributing, learning, and growing
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to lift 20+ pounds
Preferred Qualifications:
- Former workplace/design firm experience a plus
- Active member of local design community a plus
