Job Description
The Paralegal (Labor & Employment) provides legal, compliance, and administrative support on labor and employment matters involving the Company and its clients. The role assists in legal research, contract and document preparation, case management, regulatory compliance activities, workplace investigations, and labor-related proceedings.
The position partners closely with the Legal Department, Human Resources, and Operations teams to support compliance with Philippine labor laws and maintain sound employment practices across the organization.
- Juris Doctor graduate.
- Preferably with one (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience in legal support, labor and employment, compliance, employee relations, human resources, or a related field.
- Experience supporting a BPO, shared services, outsourcing company, multinational corporation, law firm, or similar organization is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with labor standards compliance, disciplinary processes, workplace investigations, and labor proceedings before DOLE, NLRC, and SENA.
- Experience in preparing legal and employment-related documents is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Filipino.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Willing to travel, as necessary, to government agencies and other Company locations for authorized activities.
- Working knowledge of Philippine labor and employment laws and regulations.
- Strong legal research, drafting, writing, and document management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Proactive, analytical, and solution-oriented approach to work.
- Assist in providing legal and compliance support on labor and employment matters involving the Company and its clients under the direction and supervision of Senior Associate Counsel and/or Associate Counsel.
- Assist in the preparation, drafting, organization, and preliminary review of employment contracts, workplace policies, employee handbooks, disciplinary notices, affidavits, settlement agreements, quitclaims, releases, and related documents, under the direction and supervision of Senior Associate Counsel and/or Associate Counsel.
- Conduct legal research as directed by Senior Associate Counsel and/or Associate Counsel and prepare summaries, memoranda, compliance updates, and legal reports.
- Assist in case management, labor dispute monitoring, administrative investigations, and disciplinary proceedings, including organizing case records, preparing case chronologies, compiling supporting documents, and monitoring case-related deadlines and requirements.
- Coordinate with Human Resources and Operations regarding employment-related concerns and compliance requirements and promptly escalate matters requiring legal assessment or advice to Senior Associate Counsel and/or Associate Counsel.
- Assist in preparing documentation and submissions for the DOLE, NLRC, SENA, LGUs, and other government agencies for review and approval by the Senior Associate Counsel and/or Associate Counsel.
- Attend conferences, hearings, mediations, inspections, and meetings as authorized, to provide documentary, administrative, and case-management support to Legal Counsel.
- Maintain labor case trackers, legal request logs, compliance records, and management reports.
- Organize and maintain legal records, case files, contracts, and supporting documentation.
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of labor law compliance training, orientations, and legal briefings under the direction and supervision of Senior Associate Counsel and/or Associate Counsel.
- Support contract reviews by conducting preliminary documentary review and legal research, identifying potential labor and employment-related issues, and escalating such issues to Legal Counsel for assessment and appropriate action.
- Prepare case chronologies, evidence and document inventories, materials and other case-support documents as directed by the Senior Associate Counsel and/or Associate Counsel.
- Identify and promptly escalate potential legal, regulatory, or employment risks to Senior Associate Counsel and/or Associate Counsel and refrain from independently providing legal advice, rendering legal opinions, negotiating legal positions, or making final legal determinations on behalf of the Company.
- Perform such other legal, compliance, and administrative duties as may be assigned by Management.
