Job Description
Summary: General Motors is a leading automotive company committed to innovation and sustainability. They are seeking a Controls Engineer who will be responsible for troubleshooting and improving manufacturing equipment, working cross-functionally to enhance system performance and design improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Work cross-functionally with diverse teams throughout the plant to troubleshoot issues effectively
- Identify and document system vulnerabilities and develop inclusive mitigation plans; track corrective actions to ensure accountability
- Design and manage key strategic interfaces within systems to promote component reuse and consistency with best practices
- Create and implement tests to efficiently identify opportunities for design improvements
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to foster innovation and continuous improvement
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or 4+ equivalent experience
- Ability to work off shift on a full-time basis
- Ability to work OT as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ years of demonstrated technical knowledge of electrical/control systems and ability to apply these concepts within a manufacturing environment
- 1+ years of experience in Control Architectures
- PLC: Allen Bradley
- Robotics: Fanuc / ABB
- Vision: Cognex / Keyence
- Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
- Knowledge of high voltage power distribution
- Knowledge of servo motors, motion control and drives
- Demonstrated understanding of mechanical concepts involving machine designs, process requirements involved in the manufacturing process
- Experience working in a Manufacturing Environment
- Ability to use computers, interpret blueprints, engineering drawings and learn new systems
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and significantly complex projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
