Job Description
Summary: General Dynamics is a leading company in defense technology solutions, and they are seeking a Test Engineering Intern to support the design, development, and execution of testing methods for hardware, software, and integrated systems. This role will involve assisting experienced engineers in various phases of product development and manufacturing while gaining hands-on experience in system verification and test execution.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing and developing cost‑effective testing methods for hardware, software, and systems
- Support the creation of technical engineering documents, reports, and test artifacts using established standards and procedures
- Participate in executing test plans and documenting system verification results throughout the development lifecycle
- Help isolate, record, and communicate issues or defects observed during testing
- Assist with setting up and conducting functional, environmental, operational, and performance tests under supervision
- Support efforts to automate manual test processes to improve efficiency and test coverage
Required Qualifications:
- Candidates should demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology
- Engineering Interns must be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related scientific or technical discipline with a preference for a standing of a sophomore or higher
- Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required
- Basic understanding of hardware, software, and system testing and troubleshooting methods (coursework or project experience acceptable)
- Ability to follow established engineering processes, procedures, and guidelines
- Familiarity with documenting test results and communicating technical findings
- Foundational knowledge of different testing types such as functional or performance testing
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with an eagerness to learn
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team and take direction from senior engineers
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic technical documentation tools
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related Science or Mathematics field
