Job Description
Summary: General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is a global leader in munitions and weapon systems. The Mechanical Engineer I will perform engineering change processes, conduct tolerance analysis, create solid models, and support production engineering tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering change process ECO
- Perform drafting, tolerance analysis including GD&T, and create solid models using SolidWorks
- Conduct FEA and conventional hand-cal stress analysis
- Perform development testing
- Support production sustaining engineering tasks such as NCR, MRB, and suppliers’ technical inquiries
- Perform detail design for precision electro-mechanical devices
- Perform component and system level risk and reliability analysis such as FMEA & Fault Tree
- Perform continuous improvement and Lean initiative projects
- Perform tool design
- Write process specification and test document
- Perform product and process safety assessment
- Applies engineering techniques to design, install, modify, analyze, repair and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment
- Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
- Confers with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information
- Researches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications
- Specifies system components or directs modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
- Investigates equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to maintenance crew
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree and 0-3 years' experience
- Engineering degree required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
