Job Description
Summary: Gelber Group is a proprietary trading firm headquartered in Chicago with a focus on innovation and technology in trading. They are seeking an Algorithmic Trading Intern for a 10-week summer program where interns will engage in hands-on learning, collaborate with traders, and execute a research project relevant to trading strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Experience hands-on learning and have immediate exposure to senior leaders within the trading industry
- Gain a thorough understanding of the financial markets through a robust program that will be intensive, challenging, and fun!
- Classroom portion will be tailored to the topic areas that are useful for the project and the class’s preexisting experience
- Topics may include market microstructure, product features, and quantitative analysis
- Engage in strategic games to hone your skills in evaluating risks
- Collaborate directly with an Algorithmic Desk, tackling real-world problems relevant to the current market environment and industry
- Take ownership of a research project designed by quantitative traders to address critical questions in trading
- Guided by experienced traders, you will navigate the research process and showcase your analytical expertise
- Develop an understanding of the various trading strategies we trade within Gelber to facilitate your career advancement
Required Qualifications:
- Curiosity, self-motivation, strong communication skills, and an ability to collaborate with others in a competitive environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to learn, understand, and apply new concepts
- Programming experience with Python, C#, Java, or C++
- Making progress towards a master's or PhD in a STEM field
- Interest in financial markets is a must, but prior market experience is not required
