Job Description
Summary: GE HealthCare is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for their MIM Platform. The intern will work on Java desktop applications related to medical imaging, taking on various responsibilities including coding, testing, and learning industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Write Java code in a large, longstanding, always evolving code base
- Create UI in Java using Swing
- Document code, design specifications, and cybersecurity threat models
- Test code and write unit tests
- Work closely with experienced software engineers, including a personal mentor
- Learn about software engineering principles in an industry environment
- Learn about engineering best practices for development of regulated medical software
- Work on real features with a real-world impact on customers
Required Qualifications:
- Some experience writing code in coursework, projects, or previous internships
- General problem-solving skills
- Strong analytical thinking
- Communication and organization skills
- An aptitude for math and science
- An existing understanding of medical imaging is not required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably for computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or physics
