Job Description
Summary: GCX is a leading provider of mounting and mobility solutions for medical devices and equipment used in healthcare facilities worldwide. They are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineering Co-op / Intern to join their engineering team in Franklin, MA, providing practical experience in a collaborative manufacturing environment. The role includes supporting engineering activities such as product testing, design support, and documentation in the development and manufacturing of medical products.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with mechanical engineering projects, product testing, and validation activities
- Support engineering documentation, including drawings, bills of materials, and design records
- Utilize the IFS ERP system to maintain and update engineering data and documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and technical documentation
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas and solutions
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows, documentation, and reporting using digital tools and automation
- Support manufacturing, quality, and engineering initiatives as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field
- Open to junior and senior undergraduate students, recent graduates, and graduate students
- Basic understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and engineering fundamentals
- Experience with CAD software; SolidWorks or Creo preferred
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to manufacturing processes related to sheet metal, machining, assembly, or quality inspection
- Experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Gemini, etc.) to support research, documentation, data analysis, and workflow automation
- Experience with 3D printing
