Purpose
The volunteer experience specialist supports Gamma Phi Beta’s international and local volunteers by providing support throughout all phases of the volunteer experience, with a special focus on the onboarding period. She utilizes her experience, leadership and facilitation skills to engage volunteers in robust onboarding and continued development to ensure that volunteers have the knowledge, relationships and confidence to succeed in their role. She also supports efforts to recognize and appreciate the volunteer workforce, thereby enhancing their morale and engagement.
Responsibilities
In partnership with her supervisor, work to create, improve, execute and revise processes and content for volunteer onboarding and continuing development.
Implement appropriate methods and strategies for volunteer onboarding and ongoing development, including leading new volunteer orientation sessions and other training sessions tailored to the needs of the workforce.
Provide touchpoints with new volunteers throughout their onboarding process to support them in completing their onboarding actions.
Support volunteer supervisors in the development of a tailored onboarding plan for newly hired team members.
Collaborate on the development of volunteer resources such as position-specific manuals and general how-to guides.
Support volunteer recognition efforts, including Volunteer Appreciation Month and nomination for Merit, Service, and Loyalty Awards.
Participate in monthly team calls with the Volunteer Experience Team.
Perform other responsibilities and complete projects as assigned.
Expectations
This role is appointed for a two year term ending on July 31. This role is eligible for reappointment for a total of three terms.
This role requires five-10 hours per month, on average.
Volunteers in this role will be expected to travel five days per year. Travel will include attendance at the REAL Leadership Institute (RLI).
Volunteers in this role will be expected to participate in the Belonging, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (BEDI) Summit. The BEDI Summit is a synchronous, virtual program.
