ABOUT THE COMPANY
My client is one of the fast-growing power infrastructure and energy technology company focused on developing and engineering critical equipment for the modern electricity grid.
The company specializes in large power transformers and high-voltage electrical equipment used in demanding transmission and utility applications. Its engineering portfolio covers high-voltage transformer applications ranging from 230 kV to 765 kV.
The organisation is building a strong technology and engineering team and offers experienced professionals an opportunity to work on complex EHV transformer designs, advanced mechanical engineering challenges and next-generation grid infrastructure.
This is an opportunity for transformer design professionals who want to work on large, high-voltage power equipment and contribute directly to product engineering, design development and successful manufacturing.
NATURE OF BUSINESS
- Power Infrastructure
- Large Power Transformers
- EHV Equipment
- Grid & Transmission Equipment
- Energy Technology
The company designs and develops critical equipment for high-voltage power transmission and grid applications, with a strong focus on Large Power / EHV Transformers in the 230 To 765 kV range.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Engineer / Senior Engineer : Mechanical Design | Large Power Transformers | 230 kV to 765 kV
Location: Hyderabad
Experience:
- Engineer: Up to 10 years relevant experience
- Senior Engineer: 15 to 20+ years relevant experience
We are looking for experienced Mechanical Design Engineers with hands-on experience in the design of Large Power / EHV Transformers rated 230 kV and above.
The role will involve mechanical design and engineering of complex power transformers across
- 230 kV
- 345/400 kV
- 500 kV
- 765 kV applications, covering both external transformer structures and internal/active-part arrangements.
The ideal candidate will have strong practical understanding of transformer construction, mechanical design, manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturability, with the ability to work closely with electrical design, manufacturing, testing and quality teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform mechanical design and engineering of Large Power / EHV Transformers in the 230 To 765 kV range.
- Design transformer tanks/bodies, covers, flanges, supports and external structures.
- Design transformer external components, accessories and associated mechanical arrangements.
- Work on mechanical design of internal transformer components and active-part arrangements.
- Develop internal installation arrangements for transformer components.
- Support design and integration of core, windings, clamping structures and other active-part components.
- Work on mechanical arrangements associated with magnetic circuits and internal transformer assemblies.
- Perform relevant mechanical calculations covering structural strength, pressure, loading, transportation and seismic requirements.
- Develop and review General Arrangement (GA) drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings and detailed design documentation.
- Ensure mechanical designs are practical for manufacturing, assembly, transportation, installation and maintenance.
- Coordinate closely with Electrical Design, Manufacturing, Testing, Quality and other engineering teams.
- Review customer specifications and translate technical requirements into practical transformer mechanical designs.
- Support design validation, manufacturing issues, testing-related issues and engineering modifications.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable IEC / IS / IEEE / BIS standards and customer specifications.
- For Senior Engineers, independently handle complex transformer mechanical design assignments and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
What Makes This Role Different?
This is not a general mechanical design position.
The role is specifically focused on the mechanical design of Large Power / EHV Transformers rated 230 kV and above, including transformer bodies/tanks, external components, accessories, internal arrangements and active-part mechanical design.
Preferred candidate profile
1. Hands-on mechanical design experience in Large Power Transformers rated 230 kV or above is mandatory.
2. Preference will be given to candidates with exposure to both external transformer mechanical design and internal/active-part mechanical design.
3. Experience from 8/ 9 Years to 18 - 20 Years
