Job Description
Summary: Freeport-McMoRan is a leading natural resources company, and they are seeking an Electrical Engineer I to assist in various engineering projects. The role involves providing technical guidance, reviewing projects, participating in site construction, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in providing technical advice and guidance for designated Engineering projects and programs at assigned site
- Assist in the review, investigation and development of appropriate recommendations regarding assigned Engineering projects
- Participate on small to medium site construction, expansion or modification projects
- Administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment
- Develop working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations appropriate to area of assignment
- Perform other duties as required
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline with no experience required
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of Engineering
- Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Degree or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification
- Knowledge and experience of power systems engineering including equipment design and specification, installation, testing and commissioning of industrial power systems
- Knowledge and experience of power systems studies including load flow, short circuit, coordination, and Arc flash study and Mitigation
- Knowledge and experience with electrical equipment used in process plants including experience with reading One lines & electric schematics
- Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD, SKM and Relay software (Enervista, Acselerator Quickset)
- Self-motivated with excellent work ethic
- Proficiency in MS Office
