<span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Surgical Case Preparation <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Ensure proper equipment, instruments and supplies are provided for procedures and specialty areas. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Ensure a well organized sterile setup/field is maintained at all times contributing to smooth operations. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Anticipate and respond timely with efficiency when performing assignments. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Follow proper sterile techniques and maintain a sterile field at all times. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Provide assistance to the circulating RN with procedure/patient preparation. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Working knowledge of autoclaves in order to consistently follow the proper sterilization method for selected instruments. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Follow the proper procedure for counting of instruments, sponges and sharps. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Instrumentation is checked for accuracy prior to procedure for proper functionality and maintained throughout procedure. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Capable of competently scrubbing complex cases across all facility specialties <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Demonstrates expert knowledge of surgical equipment and advances surgical instrumentation within major specialties
2. Quality & Patient Safety <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Appropriate procedure supplies and equipment for age specific needs is provided within specified guidelines. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Patients are transported safely and timely. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Assist in the positioning of patients as needed. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Ensure recommended AORN guidelines are followed at all times.
3. Collaboration & Teamwork <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Follow case progress in order to anticipate surgeons needs. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Active participation in departmental improvement activities and staff meetings. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Provide assistance to the OR staff with room turnovers to help decrease turnover times. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Overhead pages are expected to be responded to as soon as possible or less than three (3) minutes. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Assist with clerical OR desk duties after hours by answering phones or taking messages. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Can be asked to volunteer for call and late stay as needed <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Actively respond to emergency situations and/or trauma procedures in the OR.
4. Other Duties as Assigned <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Other duties as assigned. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Coordinate with OR Educator/OR Manager to develop and present annual in-services on equipment, instrumentation or surgical technique. <span style="font-family:";;;Arial",sans-serif;">Participate in the development and revision of a unit specific policy and/or SOP.

Qualifications

Description	Minimum Required
Experience	5 years of experience as a Surgical Tech
Education	Graduate of Surgical Technology program (1 year of experience will substitute for this requirement)
Training	None
Special Skills	Subject matter expert in surgical subspecialty AND serves as a leader within the department by providing in-services/education to other team members as well as serving on Performance Improvement projects/initiatives
Licensure	BLS Certification; Certification as Surgical Technologist
