Job Description
Summary: Fox Corporation is a leading media company producing and distributing content through various brands. They are seeking a Video Distribution Engineer I to build and maintain digital distribution platforms, contributing to the innovation of streaming products and enhancing viewer experiences across FOX networks.
Responsibilities:
- Acts as Tier 1 support for all on-air broadcast systems
- Follows standard operating procedures and documentation to support the operations team in a 24/7 environment
- Regular on-site attendance at the workplace a minimum of 4 days per week is an essential function of the position. Selected candidate must be able to reliably meet this requirement
- Builds and maintains FOX’s compression & transport infrastructure
- Conducts lab, performance and system tests and prototype efforts that can continually evolve FOX’s architecture and infrastructure
- Supports the Media Control Center in day-to-day operations and assist users with technical issues or concerns
- Partners with the Engineering and Standards & Advanced Technology teams to develop groundbreaking technology solutions for challenging business issues
- Collaborates with engineering teams, operations teams, and third-party vendors to develop long term strategy, product development and implementation road maps
- Knows data is critical to making informed business decisions and uses it to understand and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of your already amazing team's performance
- Analyzes dashboards and constantly optimizes system security and testing, minimizing bugs making it to final products
- Prioritizes the use of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to motivate the team
- Embodies a culture of continuous learning, especially in emerging technologies
- Is motivated by being part of a high performing team and delivering high quality products
- Enjoys learning from and coaching others
Required Qualifications:
- Maintain and troubleshoot compressed and uncompressed workflows
- MPEG/JPEG decoding, encoding, transcoding, processing, multiplexing, encryption, decryption, uplink/downlink processes, master control, etc
- Build strong knowledge of SCTE insertion systems, media contribution/distribution
- Have familiarity with on-prem test and measurement platforms - acquire the ability to work effectively across different projects and teams
- Advanced maintenance of Satellite and linear distribution, architecture/deploying, monitoring, alerting, and/or data analysis
- Lead new projects, collaborate with various teams, test and validation of new systems
- Conducting lab, performance and system tests and prototype efforts that can continually evolve FOX's architecture and infrastructure of the SMPTE 2110 suite of standards
- Expert knowledge of SDI video transport and familiar with new video codecs and compression i.e. SRT, RTP, Zixi, HLS etc

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent practical experience in Engineering, IT, Computer Science or related Tech field
- Advanced knowledge of video compression & codecs, such as SMPTE ST-2110, JPEGXS, HEVC
- Knowledge and experience with emerging technologies such as 4K High Dynamic Range, and HDR10+ is a plus
- Knowledge of industry standards such as, Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) and Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE)
