Job Description
Summary: Fortune Brands Innovations, Inc. is an industry-leading home, security and digital products company focused on transforming spaces into havens. The Associate Product Development Engineer will assist with problem solving and failure analysis, support design and development engineering projects, and collaborate with various teams to ensure the delivery of reliable products to the market.
Responsibilities:
- Assist teams with problem solving and failure analysis using engineering analysis tools
- Assist design and development engineering on assigned projects from concept to production. Provide engineering support and technical assistance to all engineering customers, both internal and external
- Work together with team members to develop capable, cost-effective manufacturing and assembly processes concurrent to product design activities to ensure robust designs are delivered
- Interact with Marketing, Sales, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Designers, Purchasing, and suppliers to meet the specifications and needs of the customer in the development of new, reliable products for the market
- Assist and actively participate in Design Reviews / DFM / DFA for new products
- Assist in resolving multiple complex engineering problems simultaneously in a multiple team environment
- Proactively compile, prepare and present data for timely project updates and technical presentations
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required
- Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability and willingness to travel up to approximately 10% of the time both domestically and internationally
- Ability to effectively work with domestic and international partners with different cultures and viewpoints
- Written and verbal communication skills for dealing with multiple levels of staff, customers and suppliers
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior Co-op/Internship experience including exposure to product development is strongly preferred
- Experience with 3-D modeling software
- Exposure to the following areas: Failure Analysis and scientific problem solving, FEA, FMEA, DOE and DFMA, Use of engineering principles. i.e. fluid, mechanical and thermal, Interpretation of statistics related to manufacturing processes and part design, Collaborative problem-solving techniques, Geometric dimensioning and tolerances, Analysis of component / assembly tolerance stack-up's
