Summary: Formlabs is building tools for 3D printing that empower innovation across various industries. As a Build Team Intern, you will assist in prototyping, building, and testing systems for future generations of 3D printers, working closely with engineers to ensure quality and functionality. Responsibilities: - Assist in building and modifying prototypes of next generations 3D printers and accessory equipment - Fabricate and/or machine simple mechanical parts - Inspect parts via CMM, calipers, micrometers, multimeters - Set up and perform engineering tests - Create and present various reports, ensuring organized documentation is provided to engineers throughout any testing process - Run test procedures on our SLA printers, ensuring to properly log the different HW configurations and document secondary observations i.e. surface quality of print Required Qualifications: - A portfolio of your previous engineering work/projects is required - Assist in building and modifying prototypes of next generations 3D printers and accessory equipment - Fabricate and/or machine simple mechanical parts - Inspect parts via CMM, calipers, micrometers, multimeters - Set up and perform engineering tests - Create and present various reports, ensuring organized documentation is provided to engineers throughout any testing process - Run test procedures on our SLA printers, ensuring to properly log the different HW configurations and document secondary observations i.e. surface quality of print - Are a hands-on DIYer or maker eager to work on state of the art printers - Have some experience using a 3D printer - Are able to manage a high level of detail with large data sets - Can collaborate effectively with team members on diverse projects - Can interpret technical issues from non-technical explanation Preferred Qualifications: - Familiar with CAD - Prior building experience Required Skills: 3D printing, Prototyping, Mechanical fabrication, Machining, Use of CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), Use of calipers, Use of micrometers, Use of multimeters, Engineering testing, CAD Internship Start Date: Start in 2026 Fall Benefits: Flexible Out of Office Plan – take time when you need it, Ample on-site parking & pre-tax commuter benefits, Catered on-site lunches (3x per week), snacks, beverages, & treats, Cohort-based social and professional development experience for interns, Many opt-in culture events across our diverse community, And of course… unlimited 3D prints
