In a highly regulated industry and a complex geopolitical environment, FMC’s External Affairs team provides a bridge and an influential arm between the company and a complex collection of government policies, regulations, and societal trends and pressures. The team engages with key officials, agencies, NGO’s and industry groups to impact public policy, provide intelligence and protect and elevate FMC’s reputation to bring value to FMC’s business interests and preserve our freedom to operate.
Role Summary
The Head of Government Affairs & Corporate Affairs (India) will be responsible for shaping FMC’s external engagement strategy with the Government of India, state governments, regulatory bodies, and key industry stakeholders. The role will lead all policy, advocacy, compliance, and corporate reputation initiatives to ensure FMC’s business environment in India remains stable, predictable, and growth‑oriented, support manufacturing activities and allows for a positive framework for FMC’s growth portfolio.
This position acts as the primary liaison between FMC and policymakers, driving constructive dialogue on agrochemical regulations, innovation enablement, stewardship, sustainability, and farmer welfare.
Key Responsibilities
A. Government & Regulatory Affairs
Lead FMC’s policy engagement with
Relevant Ministry (Agriculture, Chemicals, Environment etc)
CIB&RC (Central Insecticide Board / Registration Committee)
State agriculture departments and regulators
Working in close coordination with the Regulatory function, drive advocacy on regulatory topics including:
new molecule registrations
technical imports and manufacturing approvals
data protection and requirements and regulatory timelines
pricing, labeling, and packaging compliance
Track and influence emerging policies impacting agrochemical innovation, sustainability, and supply chain.
B. Corporate Affairs & Reputation Management
Build and strengthen FMC’s corporate reputation across government, industry, and media.
Lead communication strategy for:
product stewardship
sustainability & ESG initiatives
crisis communication (product issues, regulatory risks, media queries).
Serve as spokesperson for FMC when required.
C. Industry Association Engagement
Represent FMC in industry bodies viz. CropLife India, FICCI, CII etc
Shape collective industry response on key regulatory and policy matters.
Build strategic alliances with peer companies to support science‑based policy outcomes.
Identify opportunities and threats and provide timely forecasting to leadership.
D. Stakeholder Management
Develop and maintain relationships with key government officials, policy makers, agricultural universities, research bodies, and think‑tanks, in support of company’s business objectives.
Engage with farmer organizations and agri‑ecosystem influencers to advocate for responsible pesticide use and innovation acceptance.
