We are looking for a Financial Accountant in our Record to Report (RTR) space, that will deliver financial and management information to all internal and external stakeholders. This role will focus predominantly on accounting and reporting for OpEx costs within the GFC team, across Flutter Functions & UKI. This will include being involved in the management of specific operating expenses and the reporting of monthly results to the business, along with analysis.
What You’ll Do
Assist with the production of month end numbers for Flutter Functions & UKI, within Group Reporting deadlines
Operate a robust cost accruals process to ensure that costs are correctly accrued within the time constraints of a fast-close environment
Review all significant variances for areas of responsibility flagging key variances in advance of close
Standardise, and automate where possible, month end tasks to improve month end timelines
Continuously review processes to find efficiencies in ways of working and opportunities to implement AI initiatives
Complete balance sheet reconciliations within set deadlines
Proactively engage with assigned budget owners to improve processes and procedures around monthly accruals
Continuously review processes and procedures in line with changes in systems and the requirements of the business
Ensure processes and procedures are documented and robust
Proactively engage in cross training initiatives
Other tasks that may be assigned as appropriate
Work collaboratively with related finance teams to achieve wider finance/organisational goals and efficiencies
Pursue opportunities to reduce the monthly close process duration without impacting the quality of the information produced
Ensure processes and procedures within area of responsibility are documented and robust
Work with all teams within the GFC as part of accounts production / close process to ensure accurate and timely accounting information is produced in accordance with their requirements
Support Commercial Finance in the budget and forecasting process to meet Group timelines
Proactively engage with internal and external audits when required
Deliver timely and accurate financial information to the Group reporting team
How You’ll Do It
To succeed in this role, you should have:
A qualification as an accountant with 2+ years working in a similar environment, demonstrating a proven track record in financial reporting and analysis
Keen attention to detail & drive to improve quality
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to challenge stakeholders and take ownership of your personal development
The ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial staff confidently and professionally
Comfort working with large volumes of data and in highly automated environments
A team-oriented approach with the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
Experience with Oracle ERP or other similar financial systems an advantage
Experience in a US GAAP/SOx environment (advantageous)
Excellent proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
