ROLE MISSION
Define the story of Steven.com’s Media portfolio and its role in the future of media. You’ll lead communications across Flight Story, OBSN and future ventures, investments and acquisitions. That covers corporate, commercial, creator and consumer communications, plus helping establish the portfolio in the US.
KEY OUTCOMES
Define and evolve the Media narrative, and the point of view we want to own on where the industry is going.
Build Flight Story’s profile as a media business in its own right: its growth, commercial model, partnerships, technology and IP, not just its shows.
Shape communications for OBSN and future media businesses, investments and acquisitions.
Build trusted relationships with talent, and work with editorial to grow individual shows, creators and properties.
Work with Commercial, Partnerships and Brand so the comms story and the commercial story reinforce each other.
Work with the US Communications Director on positioning, relationships and strategy for US expansion.
Build the external profiles of Media leaders across press, industry platforms, speaking and thought leadership.
Lead communications for the launches, partnerships, deals and developments that matter most.
CORE COMPETENCIES
Media point of view: a real understanding of the creator economy and the changing economics and distribution of media.
Editorial taste: exceptional writing that makes complicated ideas simple and compelling.
Commercial literacy: you see the business strategy inside every show, signing or deal.
Audience fluency: you know how audiences grow and how creators and IP become brands and businesses.
Relationship building: strong, current relationships with journalists, creators, talent and industry voices.
YOU’LL THRIVE HERE IF
You want communications to drive growth from the start, not just publicise decisions after they’re made.
You’d rather be out in the market spotting opportunities early than waiting for requests.
You’re culturally curious, internationally minded and excited by the US opportunity.
You use AI to make research, monitoring and planning faster, while knowing taste and relationships stay human.
You’re collaborative, low ego, comfortable with pace and happy to get into the detail.
IDEAL BACKGROUND
10+ years in communications, ideally across media, creators, entertainment, technology or consumer brands.
Confident across business, consumer and trade media as well as creators, platforms and communities.
Experience working with editorial teams, talent, senior leaders and commercial partners.
