Mold Design Engineering Intern - Summer 2026 at Flex · USA

Summary: Flex is a diversified manufacturing partner that helps market-leading brands design and deliver innovative products. This summer, they are looking for a Mold Design Engineering Intern to assist with engineering tasks while collaborating with engineers and cross-functional teams in Buffalo Grove, IL. Responsibilities: - Assist Engineering Team with continuous improvement project(s) - Attend Design Status, Customer/Internal Review and Continuous Improvement Meetings - Complete assigned work orders and provide 2D and 3D models - Learn fundamentals of plastic injection mold design - Update design guidelines and standards - Work with the Tool Shop to obtain hands-on manufacturing experience Required Qualifications: - Junior/Senior student pursuing Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering - Enthusiastic about working in a manufacturing environment and interest in plastic injection molding process - Highly collaborative, creative and excellent communication skills - Available to work 40 hours/week (in-person) for 10-12 week Summer assignment - Currently enrolled in 4-year accredited university - 3.0 minimum GPA Preferred Qualifications: - Solidworks CAD and troubleshooting knowledge highly desired - Previous internship experience a plus!
