Agentic AI Applied Scientist Internship - NLP at Five9 · San Ramon

The internship role focuses on delivering AI capabilities through natural language processing and machine learning, involving hands-on experience with generative AI technologies and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities: - Assist in the collection, preprocessing, and quality assurance of datasets to help us improve the AI Capabilities within Five9 - Support the development and fine-tuning of NLP models/pipelines for tasks such as text classification, clustering, summarization, conversational AI, and retrieval augmented generation using tools like PyTorch, and HuggingFace Transformers - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate research insights into production pipelines - Participate in evaluating model performance exploiting suitable methodologies and metrics as well as contribute to iterative improvements - Stay current with the latest advancements in NLP and machine learning research, contributing ideas that drive innovation Required Qualifications: - Rising college senior or above, pursuing a post-graduate degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, or a related field - Strong programming skills in Python with hands-on experience or a keen interest in data analysis - Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, Scikit-learn) - Exposure to generative AI/NLP tools, including transformer-based models and Hugging Face Transformers - Experience working with LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) - Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a passion for exploring and applying new technologies in AI - Must be able to work out of our headquarters in San Ramon, CA this summer Required Skills: Python, Data analysis, Machine learning frameworks, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Generative AI, Natural Language Processing, Transformer-based models, Hugging Face Transformers, LLM APIs
