Principal Software Engineer- Cloud Engineering Location: Durham, NC Job Description: Principal Software Engineer The Role We are looking for a passionate, self-motivated Software Engineer with strong engineering foundation, software design and practices to innovate, accelerate and deliver competitive advantage to our business! In this role, you will join our talented team of engineers, designing and building the technology foundation that propels our business to harness the power of cloud. The Expertise and Skills You Bring 8+ years of software engineering experience Proficient in object-oriented Python REST API development. Hands-on experience building and deploying applications using a public cloud environment, preferably AWS Proven understanding/experience of cloud networking, virtualization, storage, containers, serverless architecture/framework, cloud IAM controls and policies Experience with architecting and developing applications by applying design patterns Experience managing systems using infrastructure as code tools (CloudFormation, Ansible, Terraform, ARM) Experience with container orchestration, Helm charts and Kubernetes ecosystem Understanding of versioning and release practices (SCM), code collaboration practices (Git) Experience leveraging AI DevAssist tools to improve development velocity and team productivity Demonstrated success in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery and exposure to Pipeline As Code. Ability to work with observability tools like Datadog and advance our monitoring via SLIs and SLOs. Proficiency with CI/CD tools, especially Jenkins Ability to build automated solutions that interact with APIs of tools and frameworks that support our products Experience in defining and implementing a comprehensive cloud reliability and observability strategy, ensuring that Fidelity’s cloud systems are always available when our customers need them. Ability to solve stack-wide engineering issues related to hardware, software, network, applications and cloud service providers. Certifications preferred: Kubernetes Application Developer, Kubernetes Security Specialist, AWS Solutions Architect.
