Job Description
Deville Steel is seeking a diligent and reliable Material Loader to join our team. This position is essential for the smooth operation of our warehouse and production services. The ideal candidate is a safety-conscious individual with experience in a physically demanding industrial environment. This person will operate out of the Deville Steel location which is part of the Falcon Steel family!
Key Responsibilities:
- Load and unload various steel materials, including bars, angles, channels, and plates, from incoming and outgoing trucks.
- Operate heavy equipment, such as forklifts and overhead cranes, to move and stage materials safely and efficiently.
- Verify and organize materials, ensuring accurate inventory records.
- Prepare and secure materials for transport, ensuring loads are properly bundled and ready for delivery.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or steel service center environment is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to operate forklifts and/or overhead cranes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs.) repeatedly.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- A commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
- Willingness to complete duties, as assigned, in the shop and around the yard when not loading.
- Ability to work in and be exposed to varying weather conditions
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
Preferred Qualifications (not required)
- Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
- Prior experience in flatbed transportation preferred.
