Job Description
Summary: FacilityForce is a company seeking a Software Engineer Intern to join their Product Development team. The intern will design, build, and enhance modern web applications while gaining hands-on experience with the potential to transition into a full-time role.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing new application features based on specifications provided by Product Management and senior engineers
- Implement UI components using React and supporting backend services using Express / Node.js
- Participate in AI-first development, including using AI-assisted coding tools, prompt-driven workflows, and automation to accelerate development and testing
- Troubleshoot and fix bugs identified by QA, customers, or internal testing
- Write and maintain unit tests to improve code quality and coverage
- Participate in peer code reviews and incorporate feedback from senior developers
- Support technical documentation efforts, including code comments and internal documentation
- Attend Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and contribute actively
- Review and provide feedback on Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) under guidance
Required Qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced development environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team
- Basic understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies
- Working knowledge or coursework experience with JavaScript/TypeScript
- Working knowledge or coursework experience with React
- Working knowledge or coursework experience with Node.js/Express
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows, including using AI tools (such as Replit AI or similar) to accelerate coding, debugging, and refactoring
- Familiarity with prompt-driven development and iterative refinement of code
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Coursework or project experience building web applications
- Exposure to debugging and troubleshooting application issues
- Academic, personal, or internship experience testing web applications (manual or automated)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Final-year student preferred, with availability to transition to full-time employment after graduation
- Experience with RESTful APIs
- Familiarity with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar)
- Exposure to CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
- Familiarity with web accessibility best practices
- Interest in enterprise SaaS products and large-scale applications
