Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineer – Manufacturing & Automation

We are looking for a Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering student, recent graduate or early-career engineer interested in practical, project-based work within our manufacturing environment.

The role is primarily focused on CNC and automated manufacturing processes, with involvement in production, assembly, testing and continuous improvement of our products and manufacturing methods.

Typical Work May Include

• Working with CNC and automated manufacturing equipment
• Preparing and programming files required to manufacture components
• Assisting with machine setup and production
• Designing or modifying mechanical components and assemblies when required
• Participating in engineering discussions and suggesting practical design improvements
• Researching alternative engineering and manufacturing solutions
• Assisting with prototypes and testing new ideas
• Mechanical assembly of manufactured components and complete systems
• Assisting with assembly and installation activities on site when required
• Identifying opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency, product quality and assembly methods
• Working with automation and robotic manufacturing processes

Who We're Looking For

This opportunity may suit someone studying or recently graduated in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.

Extensive industry experience is not required. Practical experience gained through university, personal projects, CNC machining, fabrication, robotics, CAD or mechanical assembly will be considered.

We are particularly interested in someone who is:

• Mechanically minded and enjoys practical work
• Interested in CNC machinery, manufacturing and automation
• Comfortable working with both computers and machinery
• Able to understand engineering drawings
• Interested in learning machine programming and manufacturing processes
• Capable of working independently once a task has been explained
• Able to think about how a component or process could be improved

Contract Arrangement

This is project-based contract work.

Individual tasks and expected outcomes will be agreed before commencement, with a fixed payment agreed for completion of each project or task.

The type and amount of work can vary depending on current manufacturing requirements and the candidate's skills and availability.

This is an opportunity to gain practical experience across CNC manufacturing, automated machinery, mechanical assembly, robotics and real-world engineering production.

Expected hours: 20.0 per week
