Position Summary

The Proactive Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for executing and driving forward-looking cybersecurity initiatives across the organization’s managed services portfolio. This role focuses on preventing security incidents, reducing risk, and improving overall security posture through hands-on technical work, structured assessments, and standardized hardening practices.

The engineer plays a key role in delivering proactive security engagements including risk assessments, vulnerability management, and environment hardening, while supporting broader advisory and compliance efforts. This position blends deep technical execution with the ability to translate findings into actionable remediation and business-aligned outcomes.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support end-to-end cybersecurity engagements across client environments, from initial kickoff through final delivery
  • Serve as a primary technical resource to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality of cybersecurity deliverables
  • Perform security assessments, including risk assessments, vulnerability scans, gap analyses, and security readiness evaluations
  • Conduct Microsoft 365 security assessments aligned to CIS benchmarks, identifying misconfigurations and remediation actions
  • Execute vulnerability management processes, including scanning, tuning, risk prioritization, and remediation tracking
  • Deploy, configure, and optimize security technologies such as EDR/XDR, MDR, SIEM, and identity threat detection solutions
  • Perform SIEM and SOC-related activities, including log analysis, threat detection, and tuning
  • Implement and validate system hardening across Active Directory, Group Policy, endpoints, servers, and network infrastructure
  • Assess and validate infrastructure resilience, including backup configurations and disaster recovery testing (BCDR)
  • Develop and deliver clear, actionable security reports and translate findings into prioritized remediation plans
  • Identify security gaps and recommend risk-based solutions to improve overall security posture
  • Support development and maintenance of standardized security baselines aligned with CIS and internal standards
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Security Engineering, Compliance, Service Delivery, and Account Management teams
  • Communicate technical findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Support regulatory and compliance initiatives (e.g., HIPAA, CMMC, PCI, FINRA/GLBA)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of cybersecurity processes, including assessments, hardening, and remediation workflows
  • Maintain accurate documentation across all engagements and ensure adherence to organizational security policies

  

Qualifications

  • MSP/MSSP experience required
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field preferred
  • 2–5+ years in cybersecurity, IT security, or related technical roles 
  • Experience with:  Vulnerability management and remediation. Security assessments and system hardening. Microsoft 365 security configurations.


Certifications and Licenses

  • CompTIA CySA+ preferred
  • Microsoft and Industry recognized security certifications (e.g., SC-200, SC-900 SC-300, AZ-500, MS-500, BTL1, CyberOps Associate) preferred
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
