SAP Basis Administrator Lead Location: ESP - Working offsite Job Description Are you looking for your next opportunity? Sompo has a unique opportunity for a SAP Basis Administrator Lead, in our IT Systems Development team in Spain. The SAP BASIS Administrator Lead is a senior-level position, responsible for strategic oversight, technical leadership, and day-to-day management of the SAP landscape, including on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments (e.g., RISE with SAP, SAP HEC, SAP BTP). The role requires a combination of advanced technical expertise in SAP BASIS administration and strong leadership skills to manage a team, coordinate cross-functional collaboration, and ensure operational excellence in SAP systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with SAP systems, cloud migrations, disaster recovery, system upgrades, and performance optimization. They will act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring robust system performance, adherence to industry best practices, and alignment with organizational goals. Location: This position will be based out of our Barcelona or Madrid offices. Our business, Your impact, Shared opportunity What you’ll be doing: Leadership and Governance: 1. Strategic Oversight: • Lead the planning and execution of SAP system upgrades, migrations, and integration projects, including S/4HANA upgrades and cloud transitions. • Develop and implement operational governance strategies to ensure system reliability, scalability, and security. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., BW team, development team, DC operations) to align SAP initiatives with organizational goals. 2. Team Coordination: • Manage and mentor SAP BASIS team members by overseeing task allocation, conducting weekly team meetings, and fostering a collaborative environment. • Conduct candidate analysis and interviews to recruit and integrate new team members into the BASIS team. • Act as a key resource for technical planning, reporting, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders 3. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: • Design and oversee disaster recovery solutions, ensuring high availability, backup integrity, and business continuity for SAP systems. • Develop and execute strategies to minimize downtime and enhance system reliability. Technical Expertise: 1. SAP Infrastructure Management: • Administer and optimize SAP systems, including ECC, BW4HANA, CRM, SRM, Solution Manager, GRC, and Portal environments. • Perform system performance tuning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for critical issues, including HANA memory bottlenecks and replication setups. 2. Cloud and Hybrid Environment Management: • Lead the implementation and administration of SAP RISE with Cloud and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). • Drive large-scale migrations, including the GCP-to-RISE Cloud migration, ensuring seamless transitions and successful outcomes. 3. System Implementation and Upgrades: • Successfully implement and upgrade SAP GUI versions (e.g., SAP GUI 7.70 and SAP GUI 8.00). • Manage Solution Manager CHARM for change management and CTS+ for HANA transports. • Configure and administer the Onapsis security platform for SAP system protection. 4. Monitoring and Maintenance: • Maintain SAP environment stability. • Oversee system monitoring, backups, and regular updates to ensure optimal performance. 5. Technical Collaboration: • Work closely with functional and technical teams to resolve complex issues and optimize SAP processes. • Provide expertise in areas such as Red Hat/SUSE Linux administration, Eclipse, HANA Studio, and HANA Cockpit. What you’ll bring: 1. Skills and Certifications: o Technical Expertise:  Advanced knowledge of SAP BASIS administration, including HANA, BW4HANA, ECC, CRM, and other SAP modules.  Experience with system replication, HANA SSO/SAML configuration, Solution Manager CHARM, CTS+, and performance tuning. o Leadership Skills:  Effective team management, task coordination, and cross-functional collaboration.  Strong communication skills to engage with stakeholders and vendors effectively. o Certifications:  Relevant SAP certifications (e.g., SAP BASIS, HANA Administration, or Solution Manager certifications). 2. Experience: o 10+ years of SAP BASIS administration experience, including system monitoring, troubleshooting, upgrades, and performance optimization. o 5+ years in IT management, with demonstrated experience in team leadership and stakeholder engagement. o Proven experience with SAP system upgrades, migrations, and cloud technologies (e.g., RISE with SAP, SAP HEC, SAP BTP). 3. Experience: o Strategic Thinking: Ability to design and implement effective operational governance and align SAP systems with organizational goals. o Technical Problem-Solving: Proven track record of resolving complex technical issues and delivering high-quality results. o Team Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a high-performing SAP BASIS team. o Cross-Functional Collaboration: Skillful in coordinating across teams to ensure smooth execution of projects and operations. o Adaptability: Ability to navigate dynamic environments, including cloud migrations and evolving SAP technologies. 4. Education requirements: o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science; master’s degree preferred. o SAP Certifications and/or at least 10+ years’ total experience.
