Job Description
Summary: Empower Pharmacy is a visionary healthcare company dedicated to making quality, affordable medication accessible to millions of patients nationwide. The Legal Intern will support the Legal Department by conducting legal research, assisting with contract administration, and ensuring compliance in a highly regulated healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research across pharmaceutical, healthcare, employment, and commercial regulations impacting Empower’s operations
- Translate complex statutes, guidance, and case law into concise, actionable insights for supervising counsel
- Utilize AI-enabled legal platforms to support research efficiency and analytical quality while maintaining rigorous verification standards
- Track legislative developments, enforcement actions, and regulatory changes affecting compounding pharmacy operations, reimbursement, telehealth, and controlled substances
- Prepare executive-ready summaries outlining operational risks, implementation timelines, and strategic implications for legal, compliance, and business stakeholders
- Support counsel by organizing legal findings into structured recommendations that clarify business impact, regulatory exposure, and operational considerations
- Analyze enforcement trends and legal documentation to identify emerging risks and support informed decision-making
- Assist with drafting, reviewing, revising, and organizing agreements involving vendors, providers, consultants, and strategic partners while identifying provisions requiring escalation to supervising counsel
- Support contract review workflows using AI-enabled technologies while preserving accuracy, confidentiality, and legal judgment standards
- Maintain organized legal records, contract repositories, research files, and litigation trackers that support audit readiness, operational continuity, and scalable departmental execution
- Identify opportunities to improve repetitive legal processes such as citation formatting, document preparation, policy tracking, and research logging
- Recommend scalable process improvements under counsel supervision to enhance operational efficiency and execution quality
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, Government Affairs, and operational teams to support projects requiring regulatory interpretation, documentation review, and policy analysis
- Deliver clear, timely materials that strengthen organizational alignment and compliance readiness
- Assist supervising counsel with litigation tracking, hearings, meetings, and industry events by organizing filings, monitoring milestones, and documenting key outcomes
- Prepare memoranda, summaries, and presentations that translate complex legal concepts into practical business guidance for internal stakeholders while ensuring clarity, accuracy, and strategic alignment
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Strong legal research, analytical writing, and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex healthcare and pharmaceutical regulations and translate findings into practical business recommendations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, legal research platforms, document management systems, and AI-enabled technologies that improve workflow efficiency and analytical quality
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate documentation, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with sound professional judgment, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated healthcare environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated strengths in legal writing, research, and analytical thinking through coursework, journals, clinics, externships, or internships
- Exposure to healthcare, life sciences, compliance, public policy, litigation support, or contract review is preferred but not required
- Interest in healthcare regulation, pharmacy operations, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in legal work
