Job Description
Summary: Electrified Thermal Solutions is focused on electrifying industry to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through innovative thermal battery technology. As a Design Engineering Intern, you will contribute to the development of a flagship Joule Hive product by engaging in the design and optimization of critical components within a commercial Thermal Energy Storage system.
Responsibilities:
- Own the specification, design and optimization of a critical sub-assembly within a commercial Thermal Energy Storage (TES) system
- Generate parts, assemblies, and drawings within CAD in collaboration with internal and external partners
- Leverage engineering analysis and simulation methods to inform design decisions impacting R&D prototyping and final product design
- Maintenance of detailed documentation throughout project work – including design specifications, CAD models, simulation results, and test reports
- Regular progress updates and technical reports to project stakeholders
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks or Onshape
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel and other tools for analytical means
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Python or Matlab is a plus
- Experience with renewable energy systems, thermal energy storage, or extreme temperature systems is a plus
