Job Description
As a Senior Communications Strategist within the External Communications & Public Relations (ECPR) team, part of the firm's External Affairs division, you will play a critical role in advancing Edward Jones' reputation, supporting enterprise priorities, and bringing the modern Edward Jones story to life. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategic communications programs that strengthen stakeholder trust, enhance brand perception, and elevate the firm's position on the issues and opportunities that matter most.
You will serve as a strategic communications partner to business leaders and subject matter experts, helping translate complex business priorities into compelling narratives that resonate with clients, financial advisors, media and other key stakeholders. Through proactive storytelling, media relations, executive communications support, and reputation management, you will help drive awareness, engagement, and understanding of Edward Jones' strategic priorities.
You will be responsible for developing and executing external communications strategies that support business objectives, strengthen reputation, and advance the firm's narrative. Working closely with leaders across the organization and within matrixed teams, you will identify opportunities to elevate the firm's voice, position key spokespeople, and deliver communications that create measurable impact.
The role requires strategic thinking, exceptional communications skills, sound judgment, and strong relationship management capabilities. Success requires the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments, influence without authority, and balance proactive communications opportunities with reputation and risk considerations.

What You Will Do:
- Develop and execute communications strategies that support enterprise priorities, business objectives, and reputation goals.
- Serve as a trusted communications advisor to senior leaders and key business partners, providing counsel on strategy, messaging, positioning, stakeholder engagement, and external visibility opportunities.
- Identify and advance proactive storytelling opportunities that showcase the firm's expertise, strategic priorities and differentiated value proposition.
- Develop messaging, media materials, FAQs, thought leadership content, executive communications, and other communications assets.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with media and support efforts to secure earned media opportunities that align with business goals.
- Prepare and coach spokespersons for media interviews, speaking engagements, and other external opportunities.
- Lead communications support for complex, cross-functional initiatives that require alignment across multiple business areas and stakeholder groups.
- Anticipate communications risks and opportunities, providing recommendations that strengthen stakeholder understanding and confidence.
- Partner with colleagues across the firm to execute integrated communications strategies and campaigns.
- Manage agency partners and external resources to support program execution and achieve objectives.
- Establish communications goals, track outcomes, and leverage insights to continuously improve effectiveness and business impact.
