Account Executive, Associate Practice (Health) at Edelman · New York

We are in relentless pursuit of an equitable and inspiring workplace that is respectful of all, reflects and represents the world in which we live, and fosters trust, collaboration and belonging. Consistent with this approach, we hire the best qualified candidates for all positions.

About the Edelman Associate Practice

The Edelman Associate Practice is the foundation of our client service talent and the launchpad for early-career professionals who want to shape the future of communications. Bringing together emerging talent across communications, public affairs, and advisory disciplines, the practice is designed to develop well-rounded, integrated practitioners from day one. Associates contribute meaningfully to client work across industries and sectors—building strong fundamentals in research, writing, project management, and media engagement—while gaining exposure to diverse clients and capabilities. Rather than being confined to a single track at the start of their careers, Associates are empowered to explore, collaborate across teams, and discover where their interests and strengths can make the greatest impact.

Rooted in community and driven by growth, the Associate Practice combines hands-on client experience with structured development, peer connection, and dedicated leadership support. As the industry evolves, so does the role—blending operational excellence with increasing strategic contribution and AI-enabled innovation. Associates learn not only how to execute exceptional work, but how to think critically, solve complex problems, and build the judgment and confidence that define Edelman excellence. This is more than a first step in your career—it’s an opportunity to grow alongside a connected cohort, contribute to transformative client work, and help redefine what modern communications looks like.

About the Role

Edelman is looking for an Account Executive (AE) to join our U.S. Health team, supporting communications programs for a leading global pharmaceutical client. This is an opportunity for an emerging communications professional who enjoys writing, staying organized, collaborating across teams, and helping bring complex healthcare stories to life.

In this role, you'll support day-to-day account activities across respiratory and immunology communications, helping develop high-quality materials, coordinate client deliverables, and keep projects moving forward.

We're looking for someone who takes initiative, pays close attention to detail, and enjoys learning. While previous healthcare or pharmaceutical communications experience is a plus, we're also open to candidates with strong public relations fundamentals and an interest in the healthcare industry.

Your day-to-day work may include:

• Drafting and adapting press releases, key messages, briefing documents, and other client-facing materials.
• Coordinating project timelines, deliverables, internal reviews, and client communications.
• Supporting the development of project briefs and collaborating with creative, digital, and other internal teams.
• Preparing meeting agendas, capturing notes, and tracking action items and follow-ups.
• Maintaining activity reports and supporting day-to-day account operations.
• Assisting with regulatory review and approval processes, including Veeva submissions, with training and guidance as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Client Service & Account Coordination

• Support day-to-day client communications, manage assigned deliverables, and proactively follow up on timelines and next steps.
• Coordinate internal reviews and approvals to ensure materials are accurate, organized, and delivered on time.
• Participate in client meetings, prepare agendas and recaps, and help keep projects moving forward.

Content & Storytelling

• Draft, edit, and adapt communications materials, including press releases, key messages, briefing documents, and stakeholder content.
• Translate complex healthcare information into clear, accurate, and engaging communications for different audiences.
• Incorporate feedback from senior team members and clients while maintaining consistency and attention to detail.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Operations

• Partner with colleagues across account, creative, digital, and project management teams to support integrated communications programs.
• Help coordinate materials through internal and client review processes, including regulatory submissions when applicable.
• Maintain accurate reporting, project documentation, and activity tracking across multiple workstreams.

Professional Growth

• Demonstrate initiative, accountability, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
• Develop a strong understanding of healthcare communications, client needs, and industry trends.
• Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive team environment.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in public relations, communications, public affairs, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with experience developing PR or client-facing materials.
• Ability to manage multiple deliverables, coordinate timelines, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience supporting client accounts, managing follow-ups, and collaborating across teams.
• Interest in healthcare or pharmaceutical communications; previous industry experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with regulatory review processes, Veeva, or similar content approval platforms is a plus.
• Proactive, detail-oriented approach to work, with sound judgment and a willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks.
