We’re hiring a Senior Cost Accountant to oversee accounting functions, analyze manufacturing costs, and support financial decision-making.—and turn manufacturing data into clear insights that shape business decisions. You’ll partner day-to-day with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance leadership to ensure accurate product costing, inventory valuation, and margin analysis in a manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Cost Accounting & Inventory Management Maintain and improve standard costing systems, including annual cost roll processes Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances and provide actionable insights Monitor inventory valuation, reserves, and obsolescence Reconcile inventory subledger to general ledger and investigate discrepancies Ensure accurate cost allocation across products, departments, and production lines Financial Analysis & Reporting Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost accounting reports Perform gross margin analysis by product, customer, and channel Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including standard cost updates Provide detailed cost analysis to support pricing and profitability initiatives Support month-end close and initiatives to improve close timelines Manufacturing & Operations Support Partner with plant leadership to track production performance and efficiency metrics Analyze production yields, scrap, and labor utilization Support continuous improvement initiatives and cost reduction efforts Assist with capital expenditure analysis and ROI modeling Controls & Compliance Maintain internal controls over inventory and cost accounting processes Support internal and external audits
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies Systems & Process Improvement Drive improvements in ERP systems and cost accounting processes Develop and enhance reporting tools, dashboards, and KPIs Support system implementations or upgrades related to costing and inventory Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 4–8+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, CPG experience a plus Strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting
