Job Description
Summary: Dutchie is a leading technology platform in the cannabis industry, providing dispensary operations and consumer access to cannabis. They are seeking a Financial Analyst to join their Finance team, focusing on commission calculations, payroll accounting, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the accurate and timely calculation of sales commissions for various sales teams, adhering to established commission plans
- Support the review of commission data, identifying and investigating variances or discrepancies
- Collaborate with the Sales and HR teams to understand commission plan structures and data sources
- Prepare and post accurate payroll-related journal entries (e.g., wages, taxes, benefits, accruals) into the general ledger
- Work closely with the Payroll team to ensure the proper recording of all payroll expenses and liabilities
- Assist in the reconciliation of payroll-related general ledger accounts
- Perform timely and accurate reconciliations of various balance sheet accounts, such as cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and accrued liabilities
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items efficiently, working with cross-functional teams as needed
- Ensure all reconciliations are properly documented and supported
- Contribute to the month-end and year-end close processes
- Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as required
- Support audit requests by providing accurate documentation and explanations
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics or a related field - recent graduate
- Strong foundational understanding of accounting principles (GAAP)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic formulas)
- Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines
- A collaborative spirit and a positive attitude, with a desire to work as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have internship experience in an accounting or finance department
- Have familiarity with general ledger systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle)
