Stormwater Civil Engineer Intern at Dudek in Onsite

Summary: Dudek is a 100% employee-owned firm supporting clients nationwide and delivering projects that improve and protect the built and natural environments. The Stormwater Engineering group is seeking a full-time intern who will contribute to planning, analysis, design, and engineering support during construction of stormwater-related facilities, while gaining valuable experience in a collaborative environment. Responsibilities: - Research, data collection, organization, technical analysis, preparation of results, evaluation of data, and interpretation. Research also includes contacting and speaking with equipment vendors/suppliers, construction contractors, and field specialists as needed to obtain high quality information - Willingness and ability to learn and utilize various computer-based tools, including primarily AutoCAD and stormwater modeling software such as HEC-RAS, PCSWMM, FLO2D, AES, and WSPGW - Prepare well written and organized technical reports, consisting of background, approach, data collection, analysis, conclusions and recommendations, including the creation of supporting and informative graphics and tables - Prepare detailed construction cost estimates, including necessary research to obtain high quality information - Develop solid understanding of project goals and objectives and use this understanding to prepare engineering improvement plans and technical specifications under the guidance and supervision of a licensed Civil Engineer - Willingness and commitment to support any and all tasks necessary as assigned to provide high quality service and deliverables to our clients Required Qualifications: - Civil or Environmental Engineering major at an ABET accredited university - Prior internship experience related to stormwater engineering at an environmental consulting, planning, engineering, architecture, or multidisciplinary design firm - Ability to work collaboratively across multiple practices in a fast-moving, enjoyable, employee-owned organization - Must possess a valid driver's license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by the first day of employment Preferred Qualifications: - Prior internship or academic project experience related to stormwater engineering, drainage design, hydrology/hydraulics, or water resources engineering preferred - Coursework or hands-on experience in stormwater management, hydrology and hydraulics, erosion control, or water quality engineering - Familiarity with stormwater BMPs, Low Impact Development (LID) principles, and MS4/NPDES requirements preferred - Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, or hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software such as HEC-RAS or HydroCAD preferred - Strong technical writing, communication, and collaborative problem-solving skills Required Skills: AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, PCSWMM, FLO2D, AES, WSPGW, Stormwater engineering, Drainage design, Hydrology, Hydraulics, Water resources engineering, Stormwater BMPs, Low Impact Development (LID), MS4/NPDES requirements, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, Hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software
