Job Description
Summary: Draper is an independent, nonprofit research and development company headquartered in Cambridge, MA, tackling important national challenges. The Strategic Programs Cybersecurity Analyst internship role involves supporting the planning, designing, testing, implementing, and maintaining cybersecurity solutions for critical national defense programs.
Responsibilities:
- Support and advise on technical strategic planning and implementation of current and future cyber security solutions for test and support infrastructure within the Strategic Systems Program Directorate
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with SMEs from Classified Operations, Program Protection, the user community, and government representatives to provide strategy and guidance relative to technical security solutions
- Collaborate with cross organizational teams in supporting team members with the design, development, prototyping, evaluation, and trade study analysis for cyber security tools and services
- Evaluate and suggest improvements for system security through all phases of design, implementation and operation
- Design, develop, and enhancement engineering solutions for challenging problems
- Implement, test, perform analysis, and provide documentation support
- Generate and present test reports including plots, tables, evaluation criteria, and conclusions from data collected and analyzed throughout the test process
- Complete assignments designed to develop a practical knowledge of processes, procedures, equipment, facilities, and systems as well as their interrelationships within engineering disciplines
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Enrolled in an accredited full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program required
- A candidate must have an educational path focusing on Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related discipline in one of these fields
- Familiarity and facility with the following cybersecurity topics: security architecture and design, cloud computing security architecture, cyber security digital forensics, vulnerability and remediation management, incident handling and response, and/or system development lifecycle management
- Candidate should be capable of collaborating with internal team members as well as participating in a larger team
- Educational focus in supporting IT or cybersecurity in heavily regulated or compliance-focused environments, particularly the Defense Industrial Base
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent work ethic with the ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to adapt to ever-changing environments, risks, and vulnerabilities
- Strong computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Educational path or equivalent experience with focus in system design and integration including requirements analysis, gap analysis, security analysis, and developing security architectures and solutions for new or existing computer systems and networks
- Understanding of current cyber security tactics, techniques and procedures used within the Defense Industrial Base for isolated and connected systems
- Educational path or equivalent experience with risk-based security engineering and threat modeling
- Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture concepts and objectives
- Proven effective communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
