Job Description
Summary: Draper is an independent, nonprofit research and development company headquartered in Cambridge, MA. The internship role involves supporting the research and development of engineering solutions and quality processes across various engineering disciplines. Interns will design, develop, test, and evaluate products while collaborating with engineers and technicians.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and enhancement engineering solutions for challenging problems
- Implement, test, perform analysis, and provide documentation support
- Generate and present test reports including plots, tables, evaluation criteria, and conclusions from data collected and analyzed throughout the test process
- Complete assignments designed to develop a practical knowledge of processes, procedures, equipment, facilities, and systems as well as their interrelationships within engineering disciplines
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Assist with preventative maintenance schedules on equipment and common fixtures
- Maintain equipment calibration records and schedule compiling/reading/interpreting measurement data for review
- Assist in the development of lab procedures and lab layout for effective utilization
- Assist the Facility Manager with organizing, cleaning and storage of tools
- Learn operations, functions, and outputs of different precision and state-of-the-art measurement equipment
Required Qualifications:
- Enrolled in an accredited full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program required
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent work ethic with the ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to adapt to ever-changing environments, risks, and vulnerabilities
- Strong computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Sophomore to senior year college student enrolled in a science degree program
- Able to perform hands-on laboratory instrumentation analyzing/measurements activities
- Ability to work on cross functional teams
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
